UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica Police Officer is charged with DWI following a crash in New Hartford.
New Hartford Police said Officer David Desens crashed on December 29th while off-duty.
According to Utica Police Chief Mark Williams, Desens worked with the Narcotics Unit, and has been with the Utica Police Department for less than four years.
New Hartford Police said Desens flipped his car on its side and suffered minor injuries. They said he refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said Desens is suspended without pay as an investigation continues.
A separate car crash involving another Utica Police Officer happened on December 23 which is being investigated.
