Oneida Nation leaders cut the ribbon to open turning stone Casino back in 1993. At Tuesday's birthday celebration, Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO said he is already planning for the next quarter century.
"We're always looking forward, looking at the positive," said Halbritter. "Looking at creating and making things better and that's how you really need to be as a business to be successful you need to be looking towards the future. Never standing still."
This summer, a supreme court ruling paved the way for legalized sports betting. And it could soon become a reality in New York State. Questions about the new gambling methods were enough to distract everyone from a scale replica cake of the resort. Turning Stone has not announced how they will handle sports gambling, but they believe it will be a positive part of their future.
"It definitely is gonna be a plus for us, but also the region," said Halbritter. "Everything we build and we do is not just for the Oneida people and thats been our legacy since the american revolutionary war"
Turning Stone isn't the only casino moving into sports betting.
Del Lago just signed a deal with the online betting company 'Draft Kings' to create a sports book inside the casino, so they're ready as soon as a new law passes.
Halbritter isnt the only one who sees the change helping New York. Onieda County Executive Anthony Picente says however the casino chooses to embrace the change, it will bring a lot more.
"More jobs, more people, more opportunity, more growth for the region," Picente said.
If that happens, odds are everyone wins.
