Patients at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital we're given a special surprise Friday morning.

The Starlight Children's foundation teamed up with Dunkin Donuts to give patients superhero hospital gowns.

The fun and colorful designs are meant to help the children feel brave and strong while undergoing treatment.

Patients were also able to decorate donuts and enjoy the tasty treats throughout the morning.

Those involved say the special delivery certainly put a smile on patients' faces.

"Anyone that's going to be visiting a hospital for any procedure the worst part is the dreaded E-Ps with the typical hospital gown,” said Field Marketing Manager Eric Stensland. “These are really cool themed they've got superheroes.  I think it'll give them joy, make them really happy and in good spirit here at the hospital."

The foundations have provided more than 10,000 gowns to patients across the country.
