A Cicero family is displaced after a house fire.

Crews were called to this home on Glendora Road Tuesday morning.

Officials said one person was working in the basement when they noticed a gas smell and saw smoke.

Aside from minor burns, everyone else was okay including their pets.

"Looks like they had birds in the house so we were able to get the birds out,” said Cicero Fire Chief John Barrett. “Last I knew they're doing fine, a little smoke inhalation, but other than that they're doing okay."

Officials said the fire started in the basement and spread to the second floor.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
