Local dancer, 16-year-old Jessica Moffett, is heading to Germany next month for a performance of a lifetime, the World Tap Dance Championships.

Jessica received a spot on the USA Tap Team earlier this year. It's a dream she feared would never come true, after tearing two hamstrings and being confined to a wheelchair for six months.

Jessica now practices several hours a day to prepare for the competition ahead.

"It's crazy. I mean, like it hasn't really hit me until one of my friends at school was like, 'Do you know that you're leaving next month for Germany?' I was like, 'Uh, I guess so!' It came so fast and I'm so excited," said Jessica.

She will be expected to perform an 8-minute group routine. She travels to Boston every other weekend to practice with the rest of the USA team.

Jessica and her coach, Katie, leave for Germany the day after Thanksgiving.
