BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A Buffalo city worker is facing animal cruelty charges after investigators say he stabbed a dog in Buffalo.

Officers say 46-year-old James Craddock, a seasonal parks employee, stabbed a dog that a woman was walking near Mineral Springs Road and Frank Avenue around 8 a.m. Saturday.

Police say Craddock and another person left the scene and were later found on South Park Avenue in a city vehicle.

Jillian Mann, the dog's owner, took the dog to a veterinarian clinic in Orchard Park and had surgery.

"Poor innocent dog did nothing to him, you know what I mean, she didn't even go after him when he was going after my mother yelling," Mann said. "She was cowarding to run because she doesn't like yelling, she doesn't like violence, she doesn't like any of that."

The dog is expected to recover.

Craddock is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
