Dolgeville Police seized more than 9 pounds of marijuana that was being grown on village property.

Police received an anonymous call earlier this week. The caller said they found marijuana plants growing in a wooded area off of Sweet Hill Road.

While looking for the plants, officers found the area was booby trapped. Pieces of plywood with 8 to 10 inch spikes, were carefully buried in the ground.

"If there had been kids up there hiking around through there they could have been hurt, you've got animals that run through there. Luckily no body was hurt when we were up there searching," Dolgeville Police Chief Rich Congdon said.

Police say they have a couple leads, but no suspects yet.

They say there was enough marijuana, the suspect could be charged with a felony.

Anyone with information is asked to called the Dolgeville Police Department.
