The Trump administration is freezing more than $1 billion in federal funding to Cornell University. This comes amid a government investigation of alleged civil rights violations at the school. The White House confirmed the funding pauses late Tuesday night, but offered no further details on what it entails, or what grants to the schools are being affected.
2. FEMA cutting more than $325M in 'critical' funding to New York, Hochul says
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is cutting more than $325 million in funding intended for “critical” infrastructure and resilience projects in New York state, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Tuesday. Much of the funding — which the state would have received through FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Program — was allocated for flood mitigation efforts, Hochul said in a release.
