Hailing from New York City's 4th District, Councilmember Keith Powers was inspired to run for office because as a native New Yorker, he wanted to be involved in decisions impacting his hometown. The biggest lessons he has learned during his time in office are to always be himself, put himself in his constituents' shoes, and be ready to adapt to new challenges.

When asked who is doing great work in the community, Powers said many people, especially those who work in the service industry, are working hard to keep Manhattan up and running. In three words, he would describe his district as "the greatest district."

Powers would take an out-of-town visitor to Grand Central Station, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Central Park. If he could visit any place in the world, he would go to Ireland to honor his family's Irish roots.
