New York City's Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine was inspired to run for office after being a middle school teacher and founding a nonprofit--he wanted to see more support for local schools and economic development. His favorite thing about being a borough president is having an impact on the future of Manhattan.

One thing Levine wishes people knew about his job is that he is dedicated to using his platform to help local residents find affordable housing. In three words, Levine would describe his borough as "vibrant, diverse, and active."

Levine's favorite teacher was Mr. Conlan, his high school debate teacher. One of his hobbies is learning other languages.
