Syracuse city officials approved a land swap deal with the Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) Monday but the city's plans leave some locals at Latimer Terrace unsure where they're going to live.

The Common Council greenlit the SHA's long-term lease of Eastwood Heights, a senior affordable housing site. The SHA has plans to redevelop the property and add more apartments.

As part of the deal, the SHA will pay the city about $500,000, which it could get back if and when it gives the city control of its Latimer Terrace townhome property.

The city plans to build a new children's center on that site.

The SHA also has to work with a third-party vendor to help relocate people already living at Latimer Terrace by July. However, a resident told Spectrum News 1 that people living in the townhomes are struggling to find new housing.
