Tonight will be mainly clear and mild with lows dropping into the low to mid 50s. If you have free time, the Northern Lights may be able to be seen late. Friday will be the best day of the week. It will be mostly sunny with highs around 80. We'll continue to pick up highs in the 70s Saturday with a few more clouds around than Friday. Mother's Day will be cooler but still very pleasant. We'll remain a bit cooler next week but will stay mainly dry with only a few chances for rain.

1. Migrants sent from NYC begin arriving in town of Newburgh

Two buses of migrants sent from New York City arrived in the town of Newburgh, Orange County, shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday amid a clash between Hudson Valley government officials and NYC Mayor Eric Adams. It wasn't immediately known how many people were on the buses when they arrived at the Crossroads Hotel. Later in the day, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente issued their own state of emergency orders in an effort to prevent NYC from sending migrants.

2. Hochul: New York seeking additional sites for migrant housing

Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday she continues to back the migrant-relocation plan put forth by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, but the state is also considering additional sites for migrants closer to where they are arriving. 

2. Eyewitnesses to crash take stand in Schoharie limo trial

Witnesses to the Oct. 6, 2018 crash took the stand Thursday, including the wife of Brian Hough, a SUNY Oswego professor who was killed outside of the Apple Barrel restaurant where the crash happened. The widow of the limousine driver also provided testimony on Thursday.

3. U.S. Supreme Court tosses former Cuomo aide Joe Percoco's conviction

The bribery and fraud conviction of a former close aide and confidant to ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo was tossed by the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday in a decision upending a milestone corruption case.

4. AG James sues gun accessory manufacturer for allegedly aiding Buffalo shooter

New York State Attorney General Letitia James is suing a gun accessory manufacturer saying it helped the gunman who murdered 10 Black people last May at a Buffalo Tops supermarket. The lawsuit was filed Thursday against manufacturer Mean Arms.

6. Could New York pay to raise the oft-hit Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge?

The state Department of Transportation says "nothing is off the table" when looking at how to stop large vehicles from hitting the Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge in Liverpool. The bridge has been hit six times so far in 2023, putting it on pace to set a record.
