Following the Cortland City Schools' budget failed vote in May, taxpayers are set to vote again on a revised budget next week.

The new tax levy increase is at less than 2% — the failed budget included a 9.5% tax levy — and will include some layoffs.

There were no cuts to student supplies, but staff supplies were cut, as well as the driver's ed program.

With the initial budget failing, some say there was confusion about the tax levy proposal.

"This is going to be a multi-year process to get us back to more sustainable tax rates so we can support our programs and our district," District Business Administrator Kristopher Williamson said. "Potentially next year, we might be looking at another tax levy override to get us back to where we have historically have been in tax rates."

The revised budget vote is set for next Tuesday.

That will take place from noon to 9 p.m.
