Election Day is just four weeks away.

Is there an advantage to early voting? Some who have never tried it are asking that question.

Boards of elections put a lot of energy into promoting the concept. Nine days of early voting begin across New York two weeks from this Saturday.

"I think it's an advantage for your own peace of mind schedule," said Jackie Ortiz, the Democratic commissioner for Monroe County. "Because we all know with soccer games or activities for kids or just your own work schedule, time is precious."

It starts with being a registered, eligible voter. Get that done and you're allowed to walk into any early voting site in your county. However, that may not be the one you normally go to on Election Day. But there is sure to be one a short drive from where you live.

There are more sites in larger communities like the region's major cities. When you get there, you'll walk in and vote just as you do in November.

"We try to make them as centrally located as we possibly can," said Ortiz. "And again, they could be Election Day polling locations for certain residents, but during early voting, every site is your site."

These polling sites will be open for eight hours each day throughout the nine days of early voting.
