A police detail is coming to Skyline Apartments in Syracuse.
Under this new agreement, a police detail will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
The building owner will reimburse the city on a monthly basis.
The news comes the same day as a stabbing there. Officers were called to the James Street building just before 11:30 a.m. Monday. According to Syracuse Police, Dwayne Hardy, 28, who lives in the building, was stabbed in the chest outside a rear entrance. He was taken to a local hospital, and is expected to survive.
Police quickly found and arrested Matthew Derby, 32, and charged him with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police have been called to the Skyline Apartments more than 500 times in the last six months, including the recent murder of a 93-year-old woman.
The city has also issued numerous code violations to the building's owner.
