New York's seven-day average COVID-19 positivity rate continues to fall. The state's 0.52% rate signifies 62 consecutive days of declining average positivity rates, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday.

A total of 549 new COVID-19 cases were reported statewide Sunday. That marks 10 straight days in which the number of new COVID-19 cases is below 1,000.

"With warm weather coming in throughout the state, it is extraordinary to see New Yorkers making sure COVID numbers drop to these new record lows," Cuomo said in a statement. "Whether you're meeting with friends you haven't seen face to face for more than a year, going to watch your favorite team play, or heading inside to escape the heat in a cool theatre, getting your vaccine will help ensure you can make the most of your summer and make up for lost time with loved ones. The vaccine is our best tool in the fight against COVID. If you haven't already, I encourage you to get yours as soon as possible."

The 816 New Yorkers hospitalized with COVID-19 is the lowest total since October 8, 2020.

On the vaccine front, Cuomo announced that 72,178 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the state in the last 24 hours, and 19,479,983 total vaccines have been given across New York for far.

Of New Yorkers 18 and older, 66.2% have received at least one vaccine dose, and 58.3% have completed their vaccine series. Among all age categories, 68.6% have received at least one dose and 59.3% have completed their vaccine series.
