COVID-19 hospitalizations across New York state have dropped to 4,241, the lowest number since December 3, Governor Cuomo announced Saturday.

The state’s positivity rate also dropped to 2.79%, the lowest in a month.

"New Yorkers have fought bravely through this intensely difficult and emotionally taxing pandemic. We're making great progress getting shots in arms across the state, but we need everyone to continue practicing safe behaviors: washing hands, wearing masks and staying socially distanced when appropriate," Cuomo said in a statement. "New York continues to ramp up its vaccination program by expanding eligibility and opening new pop-up sites that bring the COVID-19 vaccine directly to the communities hit hardest by the pandemic. However, it will take a concerted effort to stay vigilant and follow the state's public health guidance to slow the spread and get us to the light at the end of the tunnel."

Fifty-seven new COVID-19 deaths were announced statewide. 260,700 positive tests were also reported.

Cuomo also announced that more than 11.5 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered statewide. In the last 24 hours, 282,305 doses have been administered.

"We are now close to having one out of every four New Yorkers fully vaccinated, but we cannot afford to slow down and get comfortable," Cuomo said in a statement. "The way to celebrate our progress is to double down on our safety guidelines and continue getting shots into people's arms, so we can build on this progress. The virus is still out there, and we remain laser-focused on expanding our capacity across the state and making sure the vaccine distribution is fair and equitable. If we stay disciplined, we will win this war."
