On Tuesday, any New Yorker age 16 and older can sign up to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

It's a major milestone in the effort to end the pandemic.

There a few things people will need to pay attention to, the biggest being the limited selection available for those aged 16 and 17. They can only get a Pfizer vaccine.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only one approved for those as young as 16. You must be at least 18 to get the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The FDA set those age limits based on how each of the three companies did their trials.

Before getting emergency-use authorization, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson limited their trials to people 18 and older.

There are a few different ways to get a vaccination. One of the most popular ways is through the state's Am I Eligible website. New York state also has a vaccination hotline you can call to schedule a vaccine: 1-833-NYS-4VAX (1-833-697-4829).

CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens have also been providing vaccinations at their stores. You can check with your local pharmacy as well.

On Facebook, there's a group for New York called Vaccine Warriors. You sign up and they can help you, your child, or elderly loved one get an appointment.

According to the state's vaccine tracker, 33% of New Yorkers have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. That's a little more than 6.6 million people. About 21% or 4.1 million New Yorkers are fully vaccinated.
