SUNY Cortland will be moving all their classes online for two weeks beginning Wednesday.
This comes after a spike of COVID-19 cases among students, with 101 testing positive in the last two weeks. That triggered an automatic pause.
SUNY Cortland already took a number of steps to stop the spread, including pausing athletic and Greek life activities.
Most of the students that have tested positive live off-campus, but administrators said there's no one reason for the uptick.
"There are times where we have to be extra vigilant, extra cautious and have extra concern for one another," said SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras. "So this is one of those moments here in Cortland."
Malatras said the SUNY system has performed 140,000 tests so far this semester with a 0.7 percent positivity rate.
