Jury trials are beginning across the state this week.
A limited number of in-person jury trials will resume on a trial basis, the first taking place in Suffolk and Schuyler counties on Wednesday.
There are some steps being taken to make sure things roll out smoothly.
Special doctors will come through state court houses, offering suggestions and tips to keep people from getting sick.
In addition, administrative and supervising judges will give daily reports about their court houses.
One hundred grand juries have already been able to safely get back to work across the state.
"All of this suggests of course that New Yorkers expect our courts to be up and functioning in person even at this difficult time and that they have confidence in our ability to properly safeguard public health and responsibly discharge our duties with safety as our number 1 priority," said New York State Chief Judge Janet DiFiore.
The appellate division of the state Supreme Court will also start hearing in-person oral arguments this week.
