SUNY Oneonta officials are condemning a photo out of a dorm room showing students partying, despite the hundreds of COVID-19 cases on campus.

The original photo was taken on Snapchat, then later posted on Instagram and Twitter.

Oneonta President Dr. Barbara Jean Morris said the school is trying to identify the students to discipline them. Some may even face suspensions.

Morris said the photo is disappointing.

"We are still faced with the reckless and irresponsible behavior of a few that are damaging the reputation of our campus and our dedicated students who followed the safety rules every day and were looking forward to a great semester on campus," Morris said.

The college shifted to virtual classes until further notice on Thursday after at least 597 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

It also sparked a change on the state level.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced a new tracking tool on Sunday.

The Real Time COVID-19 Case Tracker Dashboard can track the cases at all 64 SUNY colleges and universities.

It's all an effort to help students and faculty stay up to date on data, and to monitor, respond to, and contain the virus.

That information will be reported by campuses every 24 hours.
