A Vestal walmart employee has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Broome County Director of Health Rebecca Kaufman said Sunday that anyone who was in the grocery department of the store on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m to self quarantine and call your doctor if you develop any symptoms. 

The employee did not exhibiting symptoms while working.

COVID-19 symptoms include a cough, fever and shortness of breath.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said Sunday that masks and social distancing are a part of the new normal and encouraged people to keep a log of everywhere they go in case a positive case is reported in a public setting.

“Make sure you have a 14-day log of where you are so if you do get that phone call, or if you see that public alert and you’re like 'wow maybe I was in that section' or 'maybe I was in that store' or 'maybe I was doing something there.' You can go back and look back on that and check it easily," said Garnar.

Broome County has 142 active cases of COVID-19 and 10 people have died from the virus.
