Looking for full time or part time work in upstate New York? A number of employers have gone on a hiring frenzy with the need for essential goods and food persists, and companies across the state, and country, are hiring to keep up with a growing demand. Here is a partial list:
RETAIL, GROCERY & RESTAURANT
CVS Health is looking to fill 50,000 jobs across the country. Available positions include store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center employees and customer service professionals.
Walgreens is hiring nearly 10,000 full and part-time employees at stores across the U.S.
Walmart is hiring 150,000 temporary employees to meet the growing demand amid the coronavirus pandemic. The roles positions would be filled in stores, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers, and clubs.
Target is also ramping up the hiring of seasonal employees at stores and fulfillment centers nationwide and across Central New York.
Dollar General is seeking applicants for a range of positions. The retailer has locations across the Capital Region and North Country.
Price Chopper is planning to hire thousands of employees.
Aldi is hiring seasonal employees in various stores in throughout the North Country, Central New York, and the Southern Tier.
Instacart needs 300,000 new employees to cover the increased demand for personal shoppers and delivery. These new jobs will be in the 10 states seeing the greatest demand which includes New York.
Tops Markets told Spectrum News they have filled over 270 positions in the past week. They are still looking for staff to cover all shifts and all positions. Anyone interested can apply in person or online.
Dewitt's Trader Joe's location says they are hiring and it is best to apply in person. Their website has been overwhelmed with applications.
Wegmans is hiring part-time positions at all of their area stores. Their focus is on cashier positions, but they also have openings in other areas. Interested applicants should apply online at jobs.wegmans.com. Wegmans has expediting the hiring process so that they can interview and hire candidates as quickly as possible. Syracuse-area Wegmans currently have 100 openings we are in the process of filling.
PepsiCo announced it will hire 6,000 new, full-time, full-benefit frontline employees across the U.S. in the next few months.
Ace Hardware has full and part-time job opportunities available for workers displaced by COVID-19.
Instacart plans to hire 300,000 full-service shoppers across the U.S. and Canada over the next three months for online grocery delivery and pickup.
Sal’s Pizza and Restaurant is looking for a hand-toss pizza maker.
Schwan’s, the home food delivery company, is looking for drivers across the country.
Domino's, Papa John’s, and Pizza Hut are hiring thousands of new employees nationwide to meet the demand of food delivery.
HEALTH CARE
AIC is looking for a number of healthcare workers to fill open positions for numerous locations.
Intellipure in Pulaski needs at least 20 new employees to help with the growing demand of air purifier orders. Vinnie Lobdell from Intellipure says the positions range from account managers to production people and manufacturing.
OTHER
Clinton's Ditch's Cooperative Pepsi Bottling Company needs more hands on their manufacturing lines. They can barely keep up with the demand on bottled water in the Cicero plant. They also have a dire need for delivery drivers.
Other local trucking companies need more truck operators because of the high consumption of goods and limited hours they are allowed to drive. Locally, the need has created open positions with Byrne Dairy, McLane Company, Riccelli, Gypsum Express, and Digger Specialties need drivers. Most of the positions are for people with a Class A or Class B license.
FedEx and UPS are also ramping up hiring as more people go online to buy and shop. The companies are looking for warehouse package handlers, full-time road drivers, and part-time freight handlers.
