The violent confrontation with Rochester Police that led to the death of 41-year-old Daniel Prude in March of last year sparked renewed interest across the state in police reform. 

One of the first legislative bills to separate mental healthcare from policing is called “Daniel’s Law.”  It was introduced by two Rochester area Democrats, Assemblyman Harry Bronson and Senator Samra Brouk.
