We are now well into January, and we have seen very little snow in Syracuse this season.
So far this season, Syracuse has only had 20.7 inches of snow. The average snowfall by this point in January is 61.7 inches. That, of course, means we’re running a deficit of 41 inches compared to the average.
And since it’s been a mild January, most of the precipitation has fallen as rain. In fact, Syracuse has only accumulated 0.6 inches of snow so far this month!
So where does Syracuse stack up compared to last winter? Believe it or not, by this time last year, Syracuse only had 30 inches of snow. While that number is very low, we are running 9.3 inches below where we were last year.
By the end of April 2022, Syracuse had only picked up 76 inches of snow, which was well below the average.
From this vantage point, it looks like our weather could be more active and wintry through the end of the month.
