Orchard Park will be front and center on Monday night, as the Buffalo Bills take on the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium.

What You Need To Know

  • The Monday night football game will be in Orchard Park at 8:15 p.m.

  • The weather will not be ideal for the fans or players

  • Winds will be strong with gusts reaching almost 60 mph!

  • Lake snow will move through Orchard Park before sinking south

Although I know most Western New Yorkers are looking forward to the game, they are not looking forward to the weather for the game!

The forecast really could not be worse for the Buffalo Bills' players and the fans. Let’s first talk tailgating. If you’re driving to the southtowns after work Monday, you’ll likely be driving through some lake-effect snow. On top of snow, it will be very windy. Sustained winds are expected to sit in between 25 – 40 mph. Gusts have the possibility to reach 60 mph! As I fan, you need to bundle up, break out the snow pants and winter boots for this game!

On the off chance that Josh Allen or Tyler Bass is reading this, please start practicing your throws and kicks in a hurricane simulator…

At the time of kickoff — 8:15 p.m. — the temperature looks to hover around the mid-30s. The one positive is that by the time it hits about 8 p.m., winds will likely start to settle down a bit. But just because they’ll be calmer doesn’t mean they’ll be calm. Once the winds back off, lake snow will too. Before totally coming to an end, the lake-effect snow will sink south of the stadium.

The drive home, outside of battling the traffic, should be easier than the drive there. Most of the snow and wind have subsided.

All in all, my advice as a fellow Bills fan and meteorologist? Be prepared for a wintry and bitter night out!

Nothing a little Labatt Blue can’t fix, right?
