Another record was shattered yesterday, as Western New York experienced a taste of late summer in May.

Tuesday's high of 93 broke the previous record high for May 26, which was 88 degrees in 1944.

If you feel the weather whiplash after picking up record-tying cold in early May, you feel correct. On May 9, we hit 29 degrees. With yesterday's high of 93, that equates to a 64-degree difference in a matter of weeks.

That’s the 3rd largest temperature differential ever for any month. It was the 2nd warmest day we’ve ever recorded during the month of May and within a degree of the warmest.

It was also the first time we hit 90 since July 10th of last summer and warmest since July of 2018, almost 2 years ago. Cooler and overall more seasonable weather will return and it may be sometime before we get back into that type of heat. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed our “bonus summer."
