Strong high pressure in the upper atmosphere will continue through Thursday, with record-breaking heat likely for most of Texas.
We’ll likely meet or exceed high temperature records for many places for Thursday and into the weekend. Highs in north Texas will reach the upper 90s with low 100s to 110s to the south.
Heat indices – the “feels like” temperatures – will range from 105 in Central Texas to as high as 110-115 degrees in South Texas and along the coast.
Protect yourself and your family from the heat in the days ahead. Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Stay out of the extreme heat whenever possible.
Temperatures ease slightly (but still above average) and rain chances return by the weekend for most regions.
