SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. — There are three feet of snow and counting in parts of the Southern Tier.  It’s just the beginning as the lake effect snow warning remains in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m.

It’s frigid, too. The mercury read 11 degrees, but it felt like 9-below Tuesday morning. Wind gusts are estimated to be at 40 mph at times.

For James Haley, it’s just the beginning of the frosty battle. He’s charged with keeping the sidewalk and entryway to St. Aloysius Church of Springville clear.

"Happy winter," he laughed.

Others, like Mike Gallo, were waiting out the snow, tired of snow blowing over and over again. He was glad to have a white Christmas and is prepared or other holidays to have a blanket of white.

"White Easter, white Groundhog Day," he smiled.

Both men have no choice but to keep on plowing as the system is expected to drop up to four feet of snow in some areas.
