BUFFALO, N.Y. — The funeral for Officer Craig Lehner has ended and the slow procession to Forest Lawn Cemetery will begin soon.

Street closures will remain in place for the next few hours, following the funeral and as up to 200 cars are expected to be in the procession between the arena and Forest Lawn Cemetery. 

STREET CLOSURES:

  • Street closures will begin on Lakeshore Road in Hamburg at 8:30 a.m. as the funeral procession goes from Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home, moving north on Route 5, to KeyBank Center.
  • The northbound lanes of Route 5 will then be closed from Camp Road in Hamburg to the Ohio Street exit in downtown Buffalo until all of the processional vehicles pass through.
  • The procession will turn right on Michigan Avenue from Ohio Street, then left on Perry Street, right on Washington Street, left on Scott Street, left on Main Street and finally turn left on Perry Street.
  • The city says no unauthorized traffic will be permitted in the restricted area.
  • The NFTA says it will be providing more rail service throughout the day.

TRAVEL ADVISORIES AND PARKING INFO:

  • The procession will leave the KeyBank Center at the end of the funeral and will proceed to Forest Lawn Cemetery from Perry Street. It will then turn left on Michigan Avenue, then left on Scott Street, right on Washington Street, left on Exchange Street, right on Franklin Street, left on Niagara Street, right at Niagara Square, right on Delaware Avenue, onto West Delavan Street to the entrance to Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1411 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo 14209.
  • The procession will arrive at the cemetery and proceed to Section 33 ½. Graveside seating is only available for the Lehner family and friends.
  • Parking is restricted from the foot of Franklin Street at Seneca Street to Niagara Square; and also on the east and west sides of North Street at Delaware Avenue.
  • Traffic on Delaware Avenue in the north and southbound lanes and on all east and west cross streets will be delayed until the procession passes through.
  • Parking will not be allowed on the east side of Delaware Avenue from Niagara Square to West Delavan Street.
  • The following streets will be closed:

                Main Street from West Delavan Street to Jefferson Avenue

                Delavan Street between Main Street and Delaware Avenue
