SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It was disappointing news for Orange fans Sunday night as the Syracuse University men's basketball team was not selected for the NCAA Tournament.

In a news conference Sunday night, coach Jim Boeheim says no one is happy about the outcome.

He says it came down to the games they didn't win.

“I don’t know what [the selection committee does] exactly. I really don’t. I don’t know what they are doing. We play a good schedule, We go out and play people and try to do what you can do, what you’re supposed to do to win,” said Boeheim.

The Orange now face UNC Greensboro in the first round of the 32-team NIT, a week after Boeheim ripped the city of Greensboro as a past host of the ACC Tournament when addressing how he liked the tournament's run in Brooklyn this season.

If Syracuse keeps winning, they could play two more games at the Carrier Dome before a possible trip to Madison Square Garden for the NIT semifinals and finals.

UNC Greensboro (25-9) won the Southern Conference regular season, but lost to East Tennessee State in the conference tournament championship. The regular season crown guaranteed Greensboro an NIT bid.
