BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The City of Buffalo is trying to crack down on problem corner stores.
Masten District Councilman Ulysees Wingo held a meeting last night to remind owners they have until April to renew their deli licenses.
City leaders wanted to not only discuss the requirements, but make sure everyone is in compliance.
"Things such as clearing your windows free of debris, keeping them clean so people can see in and out of your store, making sure that the food that's in the store is not expired, ensuring that they're not selling loosies, any drug paraphernalia. That list has been compiled by the community, the residents, so that they can have easier access and cleaner stores in the district so that they're not eyesores," said Wingo (D).
City leaders say they ultimately hope to build a partnership between the community and the owners.
