BUFFALO N.Y. — The Connecticut Street armory was transformed into a fairy tale on Saturday night to help newborns in need.
Each year, Sisters Hospital hosts a Black and White ball, this year's theme was "Once Upon a Time". Proceeds from the ball will benefit phase one of renovations at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sisters Hospital.
The hospital will be undergoing major expansion of the NICU to provide more space to care for premature and sick babies. Renovations, hospital officials said, are much needed.
"As we treat more and more babies in the community, we have a greater need, we'd like to expand our NICU, and really bring it up to the standards that our community deserves," said President and CEO of Sisters of Charity Hospital, Peter Bergmann.
The Black and White Ball raises money for a different area of the hospital every year.
