BUFFALO, N.Y. — With the holiday season over and the Christmas lights packed away, the cold winter blues are upon us.

However, you can escape winter with a seasonal-favorite event at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. Gardens After Dark: Enchanted Winter Escape is back.

Erin Grejak, chief operating officer for the gardens, says the display opens on Friday, January 20 and it’s a great way to get away from the winter weather and achieve Zen.

"My favorite part of this is that you come from cold, gray, rain, maybe snow, into a tropical paradise in the middle of Buffalo and you can't get that anywhere else," said Grejak. "So come down, get a little extra oxygen, get a little reset and a little Zen and the Botanical Gardens will do that for you every single time."

It takes several weeks to set the display up. The team plans out each exhibit nearly a year in advance.

The event runs select nights from Jan. 20 - March 11.
