BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kwanzaa festivities are underway in Buffalo.
The holiday runs through Jan. 1 and Western New York will be celebrating.
A panel will be held honoring women public officials throughout Buffalo on Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. at the Frank Merriweather Jr. Library. That will feature a few Democratic nominees from this past election, including Erie County Sheriff candidate Kim Beaty and Buffalo mayoral candidate India Walton.
On New Year's Eve, a children's Kwanzaa event will be held at the Delavan Grider Community Center from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Kwanzaa flag was raised in front of Buffalo City Hall on Sunday and will fly there all week.
