ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. — If you’re looking for a good scare this Halloween weekend, look no further than ski country.
People are trading in skis for scares at Nightmare Hayrides on Sommerville Valley Road in Ellicottville. There are a lot of terrifying twists and turns, but that's exactly what you would expect from the popular attraction.
There are more than 200 acres of land with seven tractors running from the haunted barn all the way to the wooded maze. The owners built the place one scary site at a time. They've had Nightmare Hayrides for more than 30 years and say even though it's a lot of hard work, they'll continue serving up scares to the community.
"They have a riot here," said owner John Kent. "They’re laughing and screaming. We hear piercing screams, but they’re laughing too. They’re having a ball. After they’re done going through everything, they’re thanking my security guys, 'We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for doing this for our family.' We get that so much. It’s nice."
