BUFFALO, N.Y. — There's a new planetarium at Buffalo State College and the view is out of this world.
The Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium is state of the art. The facility has been 10 years in the making, and it gives students an interactive way to explore everything from astronomy to science.
It's all part of the newly renovated science and math complex. The $100 million project houses the departments of biology, chemistry, earth sciences and science education, mathematics and physics.
Planetarium Director Kevin Williams says the immersive experience makes learning fun for people of all ages.
"We have classes that come in; Boy Scouts, Girl Scout groups come in," said Williams. "We have programs for the general public and seeing the audience have that reaction to what they see and hearing the 'ooohs' and 'ahhhhs,' it's really a fun time, and I tell people I have the best job in the world. I get to hang out in here anytime I want."
The planetarium isn't just for students: It is open to the public every weekend and is also available for private events.
