BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Southern Tier Brewing Company is about to open its new taproom right in downtown Buffalo at the LECOM Harborcenter.

Spectrum News 1 got an exclusive first look inside on Thursday.

There is a lot of excitement brewing in Buffalo as the business prepares to open. The new taproom will of course be serving the signature Pumpking beer, one of dozens of brews available.

Several new interior renovations have been made since taking over the former 716 facility. It is a lot more spacious, much like a tap house would be. There are two bars, all tapped and ready to go, and retail space as well.

Southern Tier Brewing Company was founded in 2002 in the Chautauqua County village of Lakewood. While all the beer is still brewed in Lakewood, there are a handful of beers that will be brewed there exclusively for the Buffalo tap house.

The new location also features televisions everywhere just in time for the young NFL Bills season and upcoming NHL Sabres games.

“Lucked out to hit the first four home Sabres games but obviously when we build these locations we’re event-driven," said Jim Austin, area operations manager. "We hope to be not only event-driven though, but a destination as well for the folks in Buffalo.”

There are other tap houses in Pittsburg, Cleveland and of course Lakewood. There’s a distillery there as well.

The new tap house opens in Buffalo on Tuesday, September 28 at 3 p.m.
