BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you haven't been to the Buffalo Zoo in a while, or have never been, there is a great reason to check it out.

Goat Island is the newest exhibit at the zoo where visitors can get up close and personal with 4-month-old Nigerian dwarf goats.

Ten of the adorable animals made their way to the zoo in June after being born in late February and early March. The exhibit opened to the public on 716 Day.

Nigerian dwarf goats are dairy goats and they came from two local farms, but their origin stems from Africa.

Zoo leaders say the exhibit allows visitors to see the animals up close. Something that zoo visitors don't always get to experience.

“A lot of exhibits at the zoo are more visual and this is definitely a hands-on exhibit where you get to come right in and interact with these goats," said Ellen Pritschau, an animal care specialist at the zoo. "Whether you just want to pet them or if you’d like to brush them and they’re super fun and interactive right now and you’ll see them running and jumping all over.”

The goat exhibit is a permanent addition to the zoo.

On Monday, Labor Day, admission is just $5.
