If you're looking to try out a new kind of dance that might help calm your nerves during the coronavirus pandemic, this one is for you.

Nusantara Arts has been specializing in the art of Indonesian Music and Dance in Western New York for the last four years.

They're offering their first virtual Javanese dance class Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

It's open to any skill level, and organizers say it's a great dance to learn, especially now with the stress of the pandemic.

"It has a bit more of a slow meditative pace to it that is more like yoga or tai chi. So basically you move into these different positions and it's very elegant. The focus is on creating sort of a serene atmosphere. So it's really a great opportunity for people, who aren't in a great situation right now, or are stuck at home, or you're looking for something to relax or also be active,” said Matthew Dunning, Nusantara Arts executive director.

They're also holding weekly lectures.

Money raised from the events is being sent to Indonesian artists around the world who are out of work because of the pandemic.

They've already raised $3,000.
