EGGERTSVILLE, N.Y. — Whether you’re 6 years old, or a six-foot running back at the University at Buffalo, everyone remembers their favorite Christmas present.

"My grandmother actually got me a CD player, but it fixed broken copies," said Dylan McDuffie, a junior at UB. "All my video games used to get broken up in the Playstation or XBox. She gave me this thing that fixed it. That was pretty much it. I didn’t have to get new video games when they broke - it would fix itself."

What You Need To Know

  • Dylan McDuffie, a junior running back at the University at Buffalo, helped organize a toy drive for the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo

  • McDuffie grew up 10 minutes away from UB, and he says he frequently went to the Boys & Girls Club when he was a kid

  • McDuffie remembers UB players being role models, and he says he wants to "pay it forward"

McDuffie wants everyone to feel that way, so with a little help from Alex Guminski (his name, image and likeness agent), his friends and teammates, he organized a toy drive for the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo. McDuffie went a lot when he was younger, and he wants each kid there to enjoy his or her holiday with a new toy.

"My parents worked hard. I went to Boys & Girls Clubs, family members’ houses. So just anything that can give back to people who are working hard to provide for their kids," he said. "Giving their kids a safe place, and a fun place to have fun and play, is something I’m definitely interested in."

McDuffie didn't just drop off the toys; he took time to speak with every boy and girl who had a brighter holiday because of his generosity.

"I take it on because I know that young kids look at me like that. It’s something I accept. It’s something that as a young kid, I looked at guys like Naaman Roosevelt, guys like that," he said. "I just understood what they did for the community. I want to do my part to give back and pay it forward."
