OLEAN, N.Y. — ​A week after he was named Bona's new director of athletics, Joe Manhertz was formally introduced. Manhertz, who grew up in Fairport, says he's overjoyed to be back in Western New York.

"I think most people flee New York and never come back," he said at a press conference Thursday. "To me, the chance to come home and be with family, and this opportunity, was a no-brainer. To be at a place like this, with the passion they have, I'm the luckiest man in college athletics right now. To be a part of this, and have them choose me, this is beyond a goal. This is a dream." 

 

 

Manhertz previously worked at Duke as the Blue Devils' associate director of athletics.
