BUFFALO, N.Y. — For baseball lovers, sports fans, and anyone just tired of being stuck inside the house, Thursday is the day.
Sahlen Field in Buffalo opens to 100% capacity starting with Thursday's Blue Jays game against the Baltimore Orioles.
It's truly going to feel like a regular night at the ballpark. Blue Jays Director of Fan Services Christine Robertson says they are returning to full capacity in accordance with New York state guidelines. For fans, this means all 100 level seating is now open to all spectators, vaccinated or not.
The 200 level seating is at limited capacity. They'll still have the cardboard cutouts hanging out up there. However, there won't be vaccinated and unvaccinated sections like before. When you enter, you won't need to show proof of vaccination and there won't be temperature checks.
They're also increasing staffing and will be opening up all food and beverage vendors. This includes in-seat sellers who will walk between the aisles with food and drink. Of course, they'll still have their sanitization protocols in place with lots of hand sanitizer around the stadium.
Robertson says they're excited to be at full capacity.
"The energy is going to be amazing," said Robertson. "We've had such overwhelming support from the fans here in Buffalo for our first game so far. And we are really excited to open that up to more fans. The energy is incredible and it really makes a difference to that ballpark feel."
On Friday, they are bringing back their first in-stadium fan giveaway since 2019. The first 7,000 fans will receive a bobblehead of one of the players.
Tickets are available now for games from Thursday through July 21. A flash sale is happening right now where you can get tickets as low as $29. Fans may purchase a maximum of eight tickets per game.
The box office at Sahlen Field remains closed. You still have to download the MLB Ballpark app. Paper tickets won't be accepted.
