BUFFALO, N.Y. — For the first time since 1995, the Buffalo Bills have clinched the AFC East, sending them back to the postseason. To say Bills Mafia is happy would be an understatement.
The Bills beat the Broncos 48-19 in Denver Saturday. Winning their division locks in Buffalo's second-straight playoff berth and third in four years.
Quarterback Josh Allen had another stellar performance, throwing for 359 yards and racking up four touchdowns.
The last time the Bills won, Allen was not born yet. He was born a year later, in 1996.
Other fan bases and sports commentators joke about the Bills Mafia for putting themselves through folding tables like they did Saturday night while waiting for the team to fly in.
Bills Mafia is also known for covering themselves in ketchup and mustard and jumping onto tables on fire. But let's be honest, no other fan base has the love that we do.
"It's been 25 years," Brittany Chludzinski said.
Saturday night, or in the wee hours of Sunday, it was no different.
"Oh my God this is the most amazing feeling ever," Bobbi Rhoda said. "I was only 10-years-old when they won the last one."
Just before 1:30 a.m., the Buffalo Bills were back home as AFC East champs. In true Buffalove fashion, Bills Mafia was there to welcome the team.
"We love the Bills, Bills Mafia, number one supports, we love them," Monica Mckie said.
"The Bills are like family," her friend Lauren Spence added.
Naturally, there just had to be a celebration that included chicken wing hats and a DJ.
"I haven't been alive since we won a title, so this is the first time I have seen a good Bills team," Eleanor Kwazc said.
Even folks from down the Thruway came out to show support.
"We just drove here from Rochester to celebrate, we are all so excited," Jonathan Yaw said.
The crowd also included a visitor from the North Pole.
"Allen, he is obviously the greatest Quarterback of all time, ho, ho, ho ho," Santa said.
While we had Santa, we had to ask him one question, what's next?
"Well obliviously they are going to run the table and be Super Bowl champions this year," Santa. "Take it from old Santa."
That we will. Let's Go Buffalo!
