Part of the evaluation phase during the pre-draft process is finding an NFL comparable.
One I saw recently for Arizona State running back Eno Benjamin is Devin Singletary.
The way Benjmain describes his style may explain why.
"I would say the best part of my game is being the first man miss and being able to stay up, contact balance, are two of the things I pride myself on," Benjamin said at the NFL Combine in late February.
Benjamin has a similar build to Singletary, at 5'9" and 207 pounds. Like the Bills back, Benjamin getting quite the workload in college, highlighted by 300 carries in 2018, third most in the nation. He followed that up with another 253 this past season.
Production really spiked in '18, earning 3rd team All-American honors with 1,642 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
He followed that up with 1,083 and 10 TDs this past year.
Benjamin also is very good in the passing game, with 77 receptions for 610 yards and four TDs over the past two seasons.
He isn't someone who will run away from the pack, shown by his 4.57 second 40 time at the Combine.
It's more the small spaces where Benjamin works best.
"Being aware of what's going on around me, Benjamin said. "I think I have a pretty good feel of the game and I know how to use leverage. At this point in time, football's not about your moves and what you do. I think it's more about angles and the leverage. So you kind of basically set that up and basically take full advantage of it."
Those moves, though, sometimes work against Benjamin, as he tries to do too much. He also admits he could improve in pass protetion.
"Not from a physical standpoint or willingness, more so the technique of it."
Benjamin is projected as a third or fourth round pick.
