BUFFALO, NY, — Jordan Nwora, who helped the Park School of Buffalo win New York State Catholic and Federation titles in 2015, has verbally committed to play college basketball at Louisville.

"It's a big moment for me.  I've been putting work in for this my whole, entire life," Nwora said Wednesday morning. "It's just a huge day for me and my family."

After a visit to campus over the weekend, Nwora made the decision to play for legendary head coach Rick Pitino.

"On my visit they showed my a lot of love," he said."They told me what I can do to get to the next level and how much of an impact I can make on their program right away as a freshman."

Nwora averaged 23.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game as a senior at Park School last season.

The 6-8 sharpshooting forward is currently attending prep school at Vermont Academy.  He'll officially sign with Louisville in November and take on college basketball next fall.

Nwora had scholarship offers from 42 schools, including some of the best programs in the nation.

He wittled that list down to 12 before selecting Louisville of the Atlantic Coast Conference, as he continues to chase the dream of playing in the NBA.

"I know he's going to be playing for a Hall of Fame coach who pays attention to details in a very structured enviroment," said Jordan's father, Alex Nwora, men's head basketball coach at Erie Community College. "I give him my blessing.  It's one step of him achieving his goals of playing in the league one of these days."

"I just need to put in the work now," Jordan said. "I just need to do what I have to do to get there.  I can't take any days off because now I've put myself in the situation where I can do it, and if I don't make it, it's going to be on me.

"I'm going to be able to get pushed to my limits and hopefully reach my potential as far as basketball goes."
