BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Sabres are still sitting at the bottom of the NHL standings -- which means they're winning the race for last place.
Finishing 30th would guarantee them one of the top two draft picks in the summer and the chance to grab the highly coveted Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel.
Playing next to one of those guys is an intriguing thought for Evander Kane, the big addition in the Sabres blockbuster trade with Winnipeg a couple weeks ago.
Kane was officially introduced as a Sabre on Saturday and was asked about the two talented prospects.
"The organization's in a position to most likely be picking really high, if not number one," Kane said. "That's definitley an exciting possibility. I think both those guys are really good players. We'll see what happens at the draft and come training camp."
Kane will miss the remainder of the season after shoulder surgery, but looks to be fully healthy for next season.
