New York State Police say four people are dead following a house fire that broke out early Friday morning.

Troopers responded to the home on Creek Road in the town of Yorkshire around 4 a.m. They say multiple fire departments were involved in fighting the fire.

Fire officials and Trooper James O'Callaghan, the Troop A public information officer, say some of the victims are most likely school-aged. He says everyone who was in the home has been accounted for and there was only one survivor. That individual was able to escape and call for help. Police and fire officials say a couple of family dogs were also lost in the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, but they have not nailed down the exact cause yet, according to O'Callaghan.
