NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Officials say the car that plunged into the Niagara River last week with a woman inside has now gone over the falls.
Authorities believe the car was driven into the water intentionally. A helicopter rescue crew pulled the woman out of the car but she did not survive. Her car remained stuck near the edge of the falls for some time after the incident.
Officials with the New York State Parks Department said the car went over the falls sometime over the weekend. They believe the wind coupled with the rising level of the river helped dislodge the vehicle and send it over the edge.
