LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Two Lockport city schools were closed on Monday as a precaution after authorities received an anonymous tip.

School administrators notified parents and staff members of the closures at Lockport High School and Emmet Belknap Intermediate School early Monday morning.

The Lockport Police Department is investigating the tip, but would not give further details, saying they're trying to protect the integrity of their investigation.

The closure was originally only for the high school, but administrators later decided to close the intermediate school as well.

School officials say they are working with police to get to the bottom of the situation and they will be providing a more detailed update later in the day.
